Both Doug and I had an absolutely fabulous time in Paris! It was much better than we had hoped for. It really is very nice. There is absolutely nothing lacking in it, which was a surprise. Do you think that we might be able to keep in touch? We do try to go to France at least once a year, and I think it would be nice if we could meet.

Bonjour Claude & Violaine.
Tim and I returned from our incredible honeymoon last night! I am in love with Paris! I can't wait for our next trip there! I'm back in Toronto, and I'm longing for a Nutella/banane crepe and a glass of champagne, and to be sitting at the Parc Dauphine, watching life go by... I'm in love with all the beauty in Paris - the buildings, the people, the food, etc.
And, especially, your apt! I have traveled quite extensively, but never have I stayed in such a wonderful place! Your apt was so welcoming, romantic and cosy! We would wake up in the morning, make coffee, and spend the day walking around Paris, and look forward to returning to "our little place" in the evening! The location was so pefect! We loved all the retaurants and ate at most of them on our street, and on rue la Huchette.
It was the perfect honeymoon - picnics at the Eiffel Tower and Jardins Luxembourg, wine and coffee at the cafe, stolling along the Seine at sunset.... Thank you, Claude & Violaine, for helping make our honeymoon so memorable! I'm hoping that we'll still be considered Friends of the House, and be able to contact you for our return trip to Paris!
A bientot, Vivian & Tim

Bonjour Claude,
Je suis retournee!! What fun, had a fabulous time. I would like to thank you so much for letting us stay in your lovely apartement. Excellent location. I enjoyed EVERYTHING, The people were charming, the food outstanding and the city is truly the most beautiful city in the world. Did practically everything there was to do, but I particularly loved the Orsay which I had never previously seen. I love little Rue ST. Severin and all the little restaurants. I had raclette and fondue, and unfortunately I discovered the little pattiserie on Boul Mich where daily I bought little pastries. It truly was a marvelous vacation filled with wonderful experiences that will forever be remembered. I left a couple of little gifts for the house. Cleaned up and left it spotless for the next person that comes in. What a lovely spot you have. I met Clarelle and her son very briefly. They came in the morning we did with clean sheets. She seems like a lovely person.Thank you Claude so much. If my mother decides that she wants to go in the spring I will inquire about availability with you Have a wonderful summer.
Merci pour tout.

Bonjour mes amis, Claude and Violaine////
Just wanted to let you know that we a great time in Paris and the Xavier Privas studio was tres bien. Awesome location! And all the jive about the French being rude to Americans was false on all counts based on our experience; quite the opposite actually.
Please know that all Rules of the House were followed. We checked in with Clarelle upon arrival by phone, but never got to actually see Clarelle during our stay. Based on a second conversation with Clarelle, we left the tax for her with a note at the studio upon departure.
Again thanks so much for your kindness and all of the useful tips. We will recommend your studios to family and friends (only those trustworthy House Rules) who plan a visit to Paris. Take care and cheers until our paths cross again///

Bonjour Claude et Violaine: We just returned last night. The flat was very comfortable - and perfectly situated. With our friend, we explored Paris and have many wonderful memories and photos. Clarelle was very helpful and we recommend her highly. I left the flat in spotless condition... along with shampoo/conditioner, soap, and dishwashing liquid, olive oil, more spices, darjeeling teabags, etc. If anyone asks about renting a flat for their next stay in Paris, I will give them your email and website addresses.

Hi Violaine & Claude,
We are back in Australia, 5 and half weeks later. The studio at the St Severin was a magic spot. Our stay in Paris was everything we expected. If we go to Paris next year you certainly will be hearing from us. The history is all round the area.
Also I found a leg of the trundle bed was loose and wobbled so I got a few bolts and replaced the broken one. I left a couple of spare bolts under the sink. I showed Clarelle. Happy to help.
A thousand thanks again.
Regards

We had the most fabulous time on our trip, and as we have told many of our friends, it was greatly due to the great location we were staying in. It was so easy to access any part of Paris without even using the metro (unless we wanted to).

Subject: WE LOVED IT!
Bonjour, Claude & Violaine!
We apologize for being a couple of weeks to let you know how much we enjoyed (no, LOVED) our stay at 22, rue St. Severin. Everything about it was JUST RIGHT -- the size, the amenities, and, of course, as they say, "location, location, location."
We fell in love with Paris. You had predicted it with surety and, of course, you were correct. Now we will have to return, perhaps in warmer weather, to see gardens in bloom, more of the markets, along with Montmartre, Cimetiere du Pere Lachaise and, naturally, more of the architecture.
Herman being the architect, he will be forwarding you his own note along with an enclosure you may find interesting.
Alas, there was only one wine glass when we arrived. You can imagine that our first purchase was the next day, at BHV - voila! - now you have three. We wanted to leave a little something for the apartment and found out immediately what that would be - and thank you for the tip about BHV being a great place for everyday items!
We met Americans in Paris who were paying pretty big dollars for (you know it) VERY small hotel rooms and no ability to "eat in", which we did a couple of mornings and evenings, and it was great to know the option was always there.
We walked 5 to 10 miles per day and just soaked up the loveliness and energy and everything about Paris!
I guess what we want to say is THANK YOU THANK YOU. You will hear from us again - probably in about three years when we return to Paris with a second round list of things to do.
Our best to you both. Winter is finally over. May spring be in your hearts.

Dear Claude,
I hope you and your wifey are doing well. You and your wife have been really kind to us which was truly the best wedding present we have received. We made memories that are just priceless. I have attached a story that I wrote
about our trip that is on a really neat website. I thought you may enjoy it. I also want you to know that I am inspired by the french culture, I am working on a Picasso-esque painting of the Paris RER system. I will send you a photo when it is completed it will probably take me another 6 months.
Thank you!

Dear Claude and Violaine
I just wanted to thank you once again for everything. I’m sorry for taking so, so long in writing back about our experience but things have been really hacked it. We had a wonderful trip despite missing our flight. Yes on the way there I miss read our tickets and we missed our flight out of Oakland and therefore our connecting flight in Dallas. But it was O.k. because my husband got to see his cousin, which lives in Dallas. London was great though our stay very short….. Ah, Paris…..The room was fantastic and yes right in the middle of everything just like you said. All the tips you send were fabulous they help a lot we really had a great time and are planning to go back but first I have to learn French which I really going to try to do. Also I almost forgot to add this, we purchased a traveling book in the US called “I witness travel guide Paris” copy right 1993-2004 (this is their web site www.dk.com) where it shows your place 22 rue St Severin as the narrowest building in Paris. I don’t know if you knew our not but we founded very interesting. We just happen to run across it while we where sitting in the studio looking through the book, reading up on some back ground of some of the places we where going to visit the next day. Well I don’t want to bore you any more. I just want to say that I really can’t thank you enough in helping this trip be as great as it was THANX A MILLION,
Viviana and Shomari
P.S. can’t wait to go back!

Well Claude & Violaine -
I have just come back to work this week after almost 4 weeks of touring and its a hard transition !
Just wanted to let you know what a wonderful time we had in Parisin your studio.
The location was absolutely perfect and I have recommended it to everyone I talk to.
We experienced snow and sunshine but no rain or wind which was great. We apparently experienced the coldest March night in 10 years of minus 6 degrees but we were cosy in your lovely studio.
Anyway, here are some tips for future visitor to Paris:
Best tip for Paris would be the Batobus on the Seine. .... One of Paris' best kept secrets.
A day pass allows you unlimited use of the Batobus boat for a day. Boats leave every 25 minutes from any stop. You can get a one, two or three day pass and the boat stops at all the major landmarks including Tour Eiffel and Notre-Dame. The best part is you get to see Paris from the River without the blaring taped commentary in various languages that accompanies the other boats.
Worst of Paris would be the beggars at the Eiffel Tower along with the long long queue on the ground and on the middle level be prepared and also make sure you use a money belt.
Magical, Paris was...a dream come true....thank you!
best regards
Michelle & Miles.

Violaine and Claude-
Just a quick note to say thank you for a fantastic holiday in Paris. It's been a little while since we got back but life has been a bit busy as Claire has just flown off to Australia for three weeks so we had to get her sorted as soon as we returned!
The St. Severin apartment was in a fantastic location and we both had a really great time shopping, eating, drinking and seeing the sights. We managed to pop down to see Claude's "uncle" and I have attached some photos of "it"!!!

Bonjour Claude & Violaine,
I would just like to say how delighted we were with both the studio and location. Everything we needed was just a 'couple of flights of stairs' away and that sort of convenience in a city like Paris for such a low cost is just unheard of!
Thank you for welcoming us as special 'house guests', we truly loved our stay and will strongly recommend Paris Studios to friends and family.
Best regards,

Bonjour Claude,
We had a lovely time and we thought of a way to express it….
My father is an incorrigible fixer – in Apartment 3 four of the doors did not fit properly – including the cupboards and bathroom doors – through a light application of sandpaper he is making sure that all the doors open and shut smoothly. I think that future guests will appreciate it.
Kind regards,
Mark

Dear Claude and Violaine
La Traviata feels like home. This wonderful old building takes you back in time, and you really feel a sense of its history. The apartment was clean, cozy, with plenty of heat and hot water, essential for our winter stay. We loved the high ceilings with their massive beams that have stood the test of time and the loft, ideal for reading or taking a nap.
After staying in a hotel for the first week of our visit, the full kitchen was a treat--fridge, stove, microwave, coffee maker--and we cooked many a meal here, which we ate at the bistro table (dubbed Cafe Ameri-kania). The nearby supermarkets had the most amazing selection of foods, especially the cheeses.
Rue St. Severin is one of those lovely narrow European streets lined with restaurants, cafes, and shops. By day it is bustling with people, but at night the apartment is peaceful and quiet as it faces an inner courtyard. St. Severin church is literally steps from the front door. With no clocks or TV, the only reminder of time and the outside world is the church bells that strike the hour.
You couldn't ask for a better location. Notre Dame is a short walk and the Seine is at your doorstep too. We walked to Musee D'Orsay and The Louvre. What isn't within walking distance is a Metro ride away.
Claude was a wonderful host and provided us with shopping tips, restaurants, travel and safety tips, and was always available if we had questions.
We would definitely stay here again and recommend La Traviata to anyone who is looking for an authentic Parisian experience.

Dear Claude & Violaine,
We are finally settled in our new home. We had the best time at your Paris Studios. Paris is an amazing place, very romantic too! A perfect setting for our Honeymoon. It was fun to see your latest acquisition.
We wanted to convey how pleased we were with your special price for us, the directions, the restaurant advice (we went to several of your choices), and the attention to our needs. It was a fantastic way to kick off our new life
together. We are already discussing our next trip!
I am half way finished with the drawing to complete our agreement. I will send it to you as soon as it is complete. There are so many memories, it is hard to choose which one to draw, but I think I have made a good decision. We will send you our thoughts on the trip along with some pictures that you might find interesting as soon as we can. I
have attached one that you might enjoy.
Thanks again and we will be in contact soon!

Bonjour!
My daughter and I are in beautiful Paris and are loving your St. Severin studio. Thank you so much for allowing us to become one of the "family." The location on Rue St. Severin is absolutely wonderful and the studio is very cozy. We have been wandering around this lovely city drinking in the sights. The weather is brisk which keeps the tourists down. I love it!
May I ask you for one more bit of advice? We are traveling on to Italy Friday morning and will be leaving out of Orly. I think it is possible to take the RER from St. Michel. Could you please tell me if this is the best way to travel to Orly airport and perhaps how much time we should allow? Thank you,Claude.
Au Revoire,
Janet
