Traviata Loft

We enjoyed La Traviata loft studio and every minute in Paris! The location was key; the proximity to the metro, the stunning evening walks along the quai past Notre Dame church and the beautifully lit up bridges. We felt safe and relaxed in the apartment after long days of exploring the city. We had everything we needed for a fun and successful trip. Sue, Jill and Julie, Salt Lake City, UT

A bit of History

Thus it is lik You will appreciate La Traviata Loft's space and history; with it 13 feet high ceiling with apparent wooden beams, its master massive beam (tested with C14) dates from the 13th century! Thus it is likely to have been taken from another building at the time Notre-Dame de Paris was built, as log beams were cut with axes and by hand and where precious.

We won the bid to acquire La Traviata after great pain, against a British Corporation who had set an eye on her at any price, you can imagine! The `bidding-war` lasted for a year.

Then, we spared no expense to re-shape the space, as you would to an artistic sculpting, we wanted the simple act of moving around trigger different sense of perspective and warp the mundane, it took us another year to implement this design, in the face of insufferable French contractors (phew!). The final interior design now allows touching the archeological massive beam with your hands.

Then we had to hunt for a bed and chair that were on stage during the first performance of Verdi's `La Traviata` in 1865 and order an exact reproduction for the studio. So you will be sleeping on a bed with history! Marie Duplessis lived within its 4 corners and received all the nobility of Paris (which explains the crown) she was a trend setter, a famous courtesan with great influence. When she died at the age of 23, Paris spoke of her for one week, which was significant for this city. She was the Marilyn of her time.
Before the onset of movies: a star. Alexandre Dumas (The 3 Mousketeers) wrote her story in `La Dame aux Camelia` and Verdi immortalized her in `La Traviata`.
